Nayarit, Mexico Travels to the US

To find a family migration object was a bit difficult for me because I thought at first there wasn’t anything that has really been kept within my family. However, after hours and days of searching I remembered the stories of a blouse and a shawl. The blouse was given to my mother about fifteen years ago and finally, I took it over about four years ago when I discovered it in her closet and it gave me a vintage vibe. Originally, the blouse was my aunt’s who got it from a clothing craftsman store in Nayarit, Mexico. The blouse is part of an outfit that originated from Nayarit the state in Mexico where my family is from. I have not worn this blouse for about three years but it still remains in my closet because of the symbolism it has for me.

Also, the same goes for the shawl, which could typically be seen draped over the shoulder of a lady, as she wears the type of blouse previously mentioned. My grandma made the shawl and had sent it over to the US with many more of them from Nayarit to Arizona. She originally sent them over for my mother to sell when she first came to the US about thirty years ago. However, my mom did not sell them. She sent the money to her mom but kept all the shawls. Now, we and everyone else in the family have a little bit of my grandma’s handwork in our home.
